28 September 2011

Ffion wakes up in her flat.  It looks as much of a mess as she does.  By the foot of the bed is the Western Post, on the cover is the story about the local man, Brandon, dying in the fire in the flat above the fish and chip shop.  It seems pretty clear we are to believe that Ffion set the fire as revenge on Garry, believing that Garry would have been in the flat.  She runs to the bathroom and throws up in the sink.

At a Police station the lady detective who was sniffing around asking questions is told by a colleague that the fire was started with a piece of paper set on fire, but that there was evidence of accelerant in the flat.  A professional job or youths?  One thing is for sure, the detective has an investigation on her hands.

Yvonne lets herself into Gwyneth's house, where she and Jinx are doing domestic things.  She says she hasn't come to ask for forgiveness, and handing her keys back (which Jinx snatches off her), she says she wants to know where she stands (with little Gwern).  Gwyneth can't bring herself to say something, so Jinx steps in, and says that she has her answer.  Interestingly, Gwern in his playpen sees Yvonne, and his face lights up.  Yvonne leaves.

The detective arrives at Sion and Britt's house, where Garry has been staying.  Garry answers the door in his dressing gown.  He asks her what the results of the fire investigation are, but she won't tell him.  He is unhappy, it's his flat, and the fire killed his brother and put his sister in hospital.  She asks him to come down to the station, when he's ready (i.e., when he's dressed).  She is smiling, she clearly thinks he was involved.

In the cafe, Dani (still without any make-up) is talking to Sheryl about Brandon.  Sheryl says that Brandon was one in a million, and that he had been very kind to her over the years.  Dani agrees, saying that Brandon gave her a voucher for the salon only last week.  Sheryl urges Dani to use it.

Dani sees another Police officer entering the cafe, and tries to get information out of her, but she won't say anything.  Dani reaslises that the Police believe the fire was started deliberately, but they won't confirm it.  The Police officer starts asking questions of the cafe customers, to see what they can tell her.

Kevin tells Sheryl that he saw Gethin around the flat on the night of the fire.  Sheryl says that she is sure he had a good reason to be there.  Kevin says that he won't tell the Police what he saw.

At the Police station, Garry is being interviewed.  The detective wants Garry to explain his movements, why he decided to go to the pub when his curfew was relatively close by.  Garry says he wanted to see someone in the pub about a car sales contract.  The detective says that maybe she should talk to this man, but Garry says he wasn't there.  The detective suggests that Garry's only alibi was killed in the fire.  Garry is not happy with this, he says that Brandon was his brother and now they think he killed him!

The detective's mobile phone goes off.  Fortunately for Garry, CCTV footage and a statement from the pub landlord confirms that Garry and Brandon left the pub together.  Garry barely waits for her to finish speaking, he grabs his coat and leaves.

Back in Cwmderi, the Police are asking Jinx questions.  He says he was working at Cwm FM along with Hwyel.  She asks him about Garry Monk's movements -- during which time Ffion arrives back, sees the Police and makes herself scarce.  Jinx is surprised by the question, saying that he thought Garry had to be back by 9pm for his curfew.

Dani finds the Policewoman and begs to know the truth, was the fire started deliberately?  She can't say anything, but Dani gets upset, saying that if someone was out to hurt her, she has a right to know.  She lost her boyfriend, her boyfriend's sister is in hospital, and she's homeless.  When Gethin comes along, she starts thinking that only one person could be out to hurt her like this, and that is Garry Monk.

The Police talk amongst themselves, they find it interesting that everybody seems to think that the fire was not an accident, and that they all know Garry Monk had a 9pm curfew and that he was tagged.  They realise that he has a cast iron alibi but they believe he is still hiding something.  Yvonne listens from a doorway.

We can now appreciate that there are at least three people who have a motive for starting the fire, believing that Garry was inside the flat -- Ffion (for the way he treated her in Y Deri), Garry himself (to hurt Dani, although we now know that wasn't possible), and Yvonne (for the way he treated her, forcing her to leave Cwmderi).

Gwyneth is having a half-heated clearout of the flat, which seems to be driven more by Jinx than her.  Gwyneth says that some of the things are too nice to throw out, they should be given to a charity shop.  Jinx says that she needs to 'detox' herself of all things Yvonne.

Yvonne comes into Gaynor's house with another theory behind the fire.  She says that the fire could have been started by money laundering people who Garry knows - and this leads her to think that she (Yvonne) could be next.  Gaynor doesn't have much time for this theory, and packs herself off to school, where she says she knows she will be safe.

Kevin finds Dani staring into her cup of coffee in the cafe, and Dani shares her theory that the fire was started deliberately, but that the Police appear no nearer to finding out who was responsible.  Gethin comes into the cafe, and tells her that Garry has been released, he can't be under suspicion any longer.  Dani can't believe that Garry has managed to twist the Police around his little finger, and thinks that she may be in danger.  Gethin says he will protect her.

Yvonne calls for the Police to talk to her, and says that if Garry was targeted by the money launderers, she fears she will be next.  The Police assure her that everyone connected to the Monks will be questioned, and she she asks Yvonne where she was on the night of the fire.  She says she was in a bar in Swansea, drowning her sorrows.  She asks for Police protection, but she is refused.

Gethin comes to see Sheryl, who isn't too pleased to see him.  She says Kevin saw Gethin emerging from the flat on the night of the fire.  Gethin says he called round to give Dani the keys to ABD back.  He stresses he would never put her or Wil at risk.

The detective asks Yvonne some questions, she says she fell asleep in front of the TV on the night of the fire until she was disturbed by knocking on the door when the fire was already in progress.  Garry comes over and demands to be told whether he was targeted.  The detective says that Garry is making the investigation difficult.  He sees Dani emerging from the cafe, and says that if anyone knows who the culprit is, it's her, because she hates him so much.  Hearing Garry shout his mouth off, Dani comes over, and says she is more than happy to go down to the station and answer questions, she has nothing to hide.

The police officer asks Sheryl and Gethin for a word, they invite her inside.  She says that she was at home alone during the evening.  Kevin comes inside during her answer, and he decides to step in, saying that he called on her and she made him a cup of tea, and that she was embarrassed at being in her pyjamas at 9pm.  The police officer smiles, the story is entirely believable.  But it's not clear why Kevin is making this up.  Is it some sort of misguided attempt to give an already innocent woman an alibi?

After she leaves, they argue, and she asks him whether it was an alibi for her, or for him?

At the Police station, Dani is being interviewed.  She doesn't answer why Garry is so keen that Dani be questioned.  She is asked why she hates Garry's guts, she says that they have never seen eye to eye.  She says on the night of the fire, she was home alone, doing some ironing, and the dog was desperate to be taken out for a walk.  She finished the ironing at about 8 or quarter-past, and took the dog out.  She says she called in to see Cass on the way back (Cass apparently confirms that she left at ten to nine), but this leaves her without an alibi at nine o'clock, when the fire started.

Yvonne says that she needs an alibi for the night of the fire, and implicitly asks Gaynor for help.  Gaynor refuses, saying that her family have done her more than enough favours.  She says Yvonne needs to stick around and face up to her mistakes.

Dani is in tears, under questioning by the Police.  They say that she has no alibi for 9pm, the time of the fire, and that she, along with everyone else, knows that Garry's curfew started at 9pm, and that she hated him, a perfect motive for the fire.  The Police say that whilst she would never hurt Brandon, she clearly didn't expect her to be there, and that without an alibi, things are looking bleak for her.

27 September 2011

Sion talks to the hospital, but there is no change in Britt's condition.  Iolo takes Sion and Britt's young children out, to distract them.  Sion wants Garry to come with him to the hospital, but Garry is in a black funk, and doesn't want to see his sister Britt like that, tubes and machines.

Denzil and Meic are talking, firstly about poor Brandon, then Denzil urges Meic to move back in with Anita.  Meic says it's too early, but Denzil reminds Meic that he was the one to say that one never knows what is around the corner.

Diane pours Dani a cup of tea and sympathy, and says that Dani can stay there as long as she likes.  She looks ashen and grey, with minimal make-up and her hair tied back.  She talks about making the funeral a happy memorial, not a sad one, but she is most dreadfully sad.  Dani says she wants to pop out to get some things, Diane insists on going with her.  Dani is clearly not ready to face the world but she's determined to do so.  They run into Iolo with the children, who say kindly that Brandon is with Jesus.  Diane takes them away.  The Police remove the cones and the tape from around the fish and chip shop and the burnt out flat above.

Garry and Sion bicker over arrangements for Brandon's funeral.  Garry is set on a small family only funeral (does he intend to try and exclude Dani?), but Sion points out that Brandon had many friends and neighbours who loved him.  It seems Garry is determined to be cruel to Dani, as when she later comes around and talks gently and thoughtfully about the funeral, Garry says that it will be a private cremation, not a burial, and Dani is not invited.  He even says that Brandon's will doesn't mention her.

Diane finds Dani in an emotional state on the floor of ABD.  She tells Diane that Garry intends to exclude her from the funeral, Diane is sad at Garry's behaviour, but promises Dani that she will be there to say goodbye to him.  Later, we see Diane take off what appears to be a wedding ring, and she puts it into a Cash For Gold style envelope.

Later, Iolo takes Dani to Y Deri.  Dani asks Meic and Anita if she can have a get-together in the bar to celebrate Brandon's life.  They are more than happy to agree, it seems they don't know what to say to her except how sorry they are for the loss of Brandon.

Anita goes to talk to Colin.  Firstly she gives him her sympathy over Lois handing the baby to social services.  Secondly, and clearly the real reason for the visit, she says that she and Meic have started seeing each other again.

Lois goes to the cafe, and runs into her father Colin.  He is angry with her for getting rid of the baby.  Kevin tries to intercede but Colin is rude to him, and he continues to tell Lois exactly what he thinks - that his longing for his granddaughter is matched only by his disappointment in his daughter.

Huw runs into Rhys, who attempts clumsily to apologise, but it falls on deaf ears.  Huw says to Rhys that in eighteen years time, Rhys's mistake may come looking for him.

23 September 2011

Things resume exactly where the last episode ended.  Brandon rushes upstairs in his flat, seeing fire.  He makes it upstairs.  Garry is held back by Britt, who doesn't want him to risk his life.  Garry tries to go in anyway, but the flames are too much for him and he is forced back outside.  Britt takes advantage of the confusion and fear, and runs in via the fire exit, breaking door glass to enter.  But, she trips, falls and is knocked unconscious.  The Fire Brigade arrive, and Dani appears from around a corner with the dog, reacting with horror at the scene.  Evidently she wasn't in the flat to start with.  When she is told that Brandon went in to find her she tries to enter, but she is held back.

Britt and Brandon are rescued by the Fire Brigade, and translated to hospital.  Brandon suffered smoke inhalation and burns to his legs, and may need grafts, though they are more worried about the smoke damage to his lungs.  Britt may be more serious however, due to the head injury.  When Sion and Iolo arrive, the nurse reveals that there are signs of brain swelling, so they have put her into an induced coma.  Sheryl pithily realises that had Garry kept his curfew, it would have been him in the flat.  Brandon wakes up, asking for Dani.

Ffion wakes up in her car, in the field, apparently hung over.  She returns to Cwmderi, seeing police tape around the flat and forensic photographers, it's like some sort of nightmare.  She is surprised to hear that Garry wasn't in the flat, and there is an hint about her that she might have started the fire.  When a lady detective starts asking questions, she doesn't look right.  She excuses herself, and throws up in an alley.  Later we see her take some clothes, put them into a bin liner, and throw them away.  Tut tut.

Back at the hospital, Brandon, tellingly, tells Dani that he still loves her, before falling asleep.  Dani and Garry have a whispered argument through clenched teeth, and she says that there isn't anyone in Cwmderi who doesn't want him back in prison.  Later, Brandon wakes up again, to find Garry at his bedside.  He says he will never forgive Garry for what he's done.  Garry tries to get Brandon to put things behind them, but Brandon says he never wants to see him again.  Garry urges Brandon not to let 'her' get between the two of them, they are brothers.  But as Brandon speaks, he clutches his chest.  Garry runs out shouting, to get a nurse.  When they come back, it's flatline, and Brandon's eyes are fixed open.  They shock him, but to no avail.  Time of death is declared at 11.20.  Dani and Garry are inconsolable, but neither can bear to be near the other.

I did not see that coming!

22 September 2011

Eileen goes on a date, and things seem to go well, until her date says that he thinks he recognises Norman from somewhere - the implication is that he's seem Norman in drag.  When Eileen goes to the toilet, after some hints from Norman the date realises that Norman is Norma Jean from the Abertawe clubs (although it's worth mentioning that when Eileen first encountered Norman in drag, it was in a Llanelli club) - and ambiguously Eileen's date asks where to buy stilettos that fit men!

Things get steadily worse, when the date says he's booked a room upstairs.  She politely declines, trying to say gently that she is old fashioned and prefers to get to know someone before jumping into bed with them.  Her date agrees with her, unkindly, saying she is old fashioned, and the date ends with Eileen asking Norman for a taxi.  Why don't the two of them just get together?

Jinx has a real go at Yvonne, saying that she is worst thing ever to happen to Gwyneth.  He adds, as a parting shot, that if Yvonne is pregnant, then he doesn't want anything to do with her or the baby.  Harsh.

Sheryl tries to get hold of Ffion, to make sure that she is okay after Garry's dreadful behaviour in Y Deri, but she can't reach her.

Kevin tries his luck and calls on Sheryl with a bottle of wine, but he gets no answer.

Brandon tells Garry a couple of home truths, and Garry says he is sorry for the way he treated Ffion, and Dani, and Sheryl.  Brandon shocks Garry by asking him to be best man - he intends to propose to Dani.  Garry isn't full of congratulations, and the two of them argue.  Garry tells Brandon that Dani cheated on him in Newcastle, with him.  Brandon punches him, and despite Garry telling the whole story, Brandon doesn't believe him, although he's still furious.

They get back to Cwmderi and the fight continues, with Britt breaking them up.  As Brandon enters his flat, furious, he sees fire, and runs upstairs to find Dani.

21 September 2011

Yvonne brings a present round for Lois and Gwen.  Gaynor answers the door, and explains that the baby has gone.  Gaynor says that she and Colin are heartbroken.  They talk.  Yvonne confesses she's looking for somewhere to stay, Gaynor says she can move in with them, now that they have the extra space.

Yvonne catches up with Gwyneth with Gwern.  Gwyneth doesn't want things to be made any more difficult than they have to be.

Sheryl goes to ABD, the electrics at the salon have failed, and there is water everywhere.  Sheryl and Garry argue, Brandon acts as peacekeeper.  Later Kevin remonstrates with Garry, who doesn't take him seriously.  Kevin does not deny that he's still in love with Sheryl, when accused by Garry, but it's clear Kevin means business.

Later in Y Deri, Sheryl thanks Gethin for being so reasonable.  Gethin says he grew up with an abusive father, so he understands the strong feelings of a good parent.  He admits that the man he saw at the hotel a couple of months ago with Sheryl was his father.  She is surprised that he didn't want speak to him, but we don't know the full extent of what happened to Gethin.

Garry sees Ffion pouring vodka into her orange juice and grins to himself.  He later tells Gethin that he saw the vice squad close to the garage, and he hopes Gethin doesn't have any drugs hidden in them - meaning he may have put some there.   It quickly becomes clear that Garry is just winding people up and taking pleasure from doing it.

Later still, Garry shows Ffion up dreadfully in Y Deri, telling everyone that Ffion wanted to kill herself.  Everyone is disgusted with Garry, and he's thrown out.

20 September 2011

Lois astonishes her mother, Colin and Hwyel by saying that she's going back to school, and that she wants to give the baby up for adoption.  Her mother agrees to take Lois to see Huw, Lois says he has a right to know.  Gaynor even suggests that she and Hywel bring up the baby, but Lois says she would only let the baby down.  Hywel tries to enlist Rhys to make Lois change her mind, but Rhys doesn't want anything to do with Lois or the baby.  Hwyel shamelessly tries to bribe Rhys with a cheque for £5000, with another on the way, if he agrees that the baby can stay.

Lois gets a poor reception from Huw, who remains angry with her.  He declines the chance to say goodbye to the baby, saying the baby is nothing to do with him.  Huw is still a very angry man, and he will not listen to Sion's attempts to talk to him.

The social worker arrives, when Hwyel tries to tell her that Rhys wants to keep the baby.  Whilst the social worker and Lois sort out the paperwork, Rhys, Hwyel, Gaynor and Colin continue to argue loudly in the kitchen.

As Rhys storms out throwing Hwyel's cheque back at him, Lois steps outside for some air and finds Huw outside.  He says he doesn't want to come inside, and gives her a locket that he bought for her and had engraved, which took a couple of weeks ago - Lois on one side, Gwen (the baby) on the other.  Lois says it doesn't have to end this way, but Huw says it already has.

As the social worker leaves with the baby, watched by Lois, Hwyel is inconsolable, as his granddaughter is taken out of his life.

Monday 19 September 2011

19 September 2011

Yvonne puts something through Gwyneth's door.  Garry threatens her, but Yvonne is past caring about Garry.

Gwyneth goes to visit Yvonne in her hotel room.  Gwyneth has brought some of her things.  Yvonne persuades her to stay and talk, but despite some heartfelt and genuine feelings amongst the lies, it's clearly not enough.

Hwyel suggests that he moves in, but Gaynor says no, it would mean Rhys moving in as well, and Lois would never accept this.

Ffion wakes up, hung over, and rings in to the school, saying she'll be late.  Later in Cwmderi she apologises to Sheryl, and asks if she can move back to the flat.  Sheryl is sympathetic, but the answer is no.

Garry tries to apologise to Brandon for his behaviour, but Brandon tells him to apologise to Dani.  Garry later catches up with them and puts on a show of apologising.  He shakes Dani's hand but when Brandon isn't looking, Garry throws her hand away.  He isn't sorry at all, and clearly he intends to continue making trouble.

Sheryl is overjoyed when Social Services drop their investigation.  Gethin tells Sheryl that it was Garry who made the false accusation.  She gets revenge by throwing two drinks over him in Y Deri.  Brandon throws him out of the pub.

Norman tries matchmaking for Eileen - daft really when the two of them are obviously perfectly matched.

Friday 16 September 2011

16 September 2011

Ffion wakes up with a hangover, phones in sick, and immediately starts drinking vodka.  She seems determined to remain on a path to self-destruction.  She doesn't do it quietly however, and Sheryl and Britt can hear her music downstairs in the salon.  Eventually Sheryl goes into Ffion's room and turns the music off.

Ffion is drunk, and there are empty bottles everywhere, in the bed, on shelves.  Sheryl has had enough, and says that she wants Ffion out of the flat.  When she leaves, she is in a dreadful state though.  She needs urgent treatment.  She tries to knock on Garry's door, saying it's all his fault, but there is nobody there.

Britt invites herself to Macs's flat for a cup of tea.  He's resistant, saying that Sion has sent her round.  It's at least partially true.  Macs says nobody has any idea of how he's feeling, but Britt says no - she knows exactly what it's like to be raped.  Macs is shocked into silence.  Britt elaborates, and tells the story about an ex-boyfriend, and says her turning point was realising that it wasn't her fault.

Eileen goes on a date, but the man is plainly not suitable.  He orders cheap food, has a voucher for the restaurant, and has the nerve to order for Eileen too.  Turns out he works for HMRC, not only very boring but his ex wife thought so too.

Dai and Diane start to sell some possessions to try and make ends meet.

Thursday 15 September 2011

15 September 2011

Lois calls on Huw, but Huw is still angry.  In front of his whole family he tells them that Rhys is the baby's real father.  This causes an argument between Sion and Hwyel, which Huw witnesses, and he's not happy.

Gethin tries to talk to Sheryl, but she won't have it.  Later however when Sheryl and Kevin are talking to Wil, it emerges that Gethin never hurt Wil at all.  Sheryl is ashamed of having reacted so speedily and she realises she has hurt Gethin's feelings.

Gethin reacts in an extremely grown up manner, ignoring his own hurt and saying that she was only protecting her son, and any mother would do the same.  Afterwards, Garry suggests to Gethin that he should leave the village as there is nothing left for him.  Gethin realises that Garry was responsible for the rumour that he'd hit Wil.  Wil controls his temper and says he will make Garry pay for what he's done.

Garry and Ffion clash in the pub; just as it looks like they are being friends, Garry acts callously and Ffion is upset.  Ffion retreats to her room and starts drinking vodka.  Garry is a man with serious anger inside him, and it's not attractive at all.

Gwyneth starts to pack up Yvonne's things and place them in black bags outside.  Coincidentally she receives a letter from Yvonne, explaining everything, but it changes nothing.  Garry does his best to put in some poison.  Later whilst talking to Britt, she admits she feels alone and misses Yvonne, but decides to take her rings off.

Wednesday 14 September 2011

14 September 2011

Chaos descends after the allegation that Gethin hit Wil.

Lois is finding it difficult to maintain a routine with the baby, she thinks that her mother Gaynor, despite being well intentioned, is interfering.

Hwyel tries to encourage his son Rhys to take responsibility, saying that he and Gaynor will support him, but he's having none of it.

Macs finds his father in the cafe, and they talk.  She hints that Sioned should be a big support, but then reacts when he finds out that they have split up.  When Sioned later calls at the cafe, Sion blames Sioned without asking for her side of the story, and she is too tired to offer it to him.

Sheryl, Wil and Kevin sit down to enjoy a pizza together.  When Wil mentions Gethin there is an awkward moment.  Later, when Sheryl and Kevin are talking, it's clear they still have feelings for each other.  They kiss, but Sheryl immediately regrets it.

Colin buys a bed for the baby and has some fun trying to assemble it.  When he, Gaynor, Lois and Huw are enjoying a meal, Hwyel comes in bearing gifts, but they are superfluous.  Colin tries to push him out, but Hwyel pushes back, says that Huw should stop living a lie and that he knows Rhys is the father.  There is an ugly scene and Lois stands by and allows Huw to be attacked.  He leaves, and storms over to Rhys, saying that thanks to him, it's over between Huw and Lois.

Tuesday 13 September 2011

13 September 2011

Jinx tells Gwyneth he has a hangover, but she isn't paying attention.  She asks Jinx to look after Gwern.

Gwyneth confronts Gaynor, it turns out she's known for a few months about Yvonne.  Colin walks in on the conversation, he is surprised that Gaynor has acted this way.  Colin can't believe that Yvonne, he's own sister, has behaved this way.

Sheryl gets a visit from social services, a complaint has been made that Wil has been hit.  He interviews Wil but the allegation seems to be baseless.  Sheryl believes Garry is behind the story.

Social Services interview Gethin.  He's incredulous, and doesn't like being told he has to stay away from Wil.  Sheryl believes that Gethin is guilty, and says their relationship is over.  Meic and Anita have a go as well, saying nobody hits their grandson (Kevin is Wil's father, and Meic is Kevin's father).

Anita and Diane have a heart to heart about relationships.  This culminates in Anita asking Meic to move back in.  He says he will stay the night.

Garry tries to act the hard man with Brandon and Dani but it doesn't work, Brandon says he knows everything, but Dani looks a little worried.  Garry tries again later, but Brandon throws him out.  Brandon tells Gethin he knows about the burglary.

Monday 12 September 2011

12 September 2011

Events pick up exactly where they left off.  Yvonne tries to explain to Gwyneth, but she's having none of it.  She asks her if she sent Garry to jail, she can't answer.  Yvonne says that she was sent to get close to Garry's family, but falling in love wasn't planned, it just happened.  Garry turns up but he doesn't have to say anything, the damage is done.  Gwyneth tells Yvonne never to come near here again.  Garry tells her that now she knows what it's like to lose everything.  Garry really is a nasty spiteful piece of work.  Great acting though.

Meic and Anita finish their meal, it looks like they have made progress, there is still genuine warmth between the two of them.

Diane receives a call from the bank, they are up to the limit on all their credit cards!

Gethin tries to warn Dani that Garry may cause problems, and that just because he hasn't told Brandon yet, this doesn't mean he won't.

Dani decides it's now or never. She tells Brandon that she and Gethin stole Garry's money because she had money troubles of her own.  She tells Brandon that Garry threatened her, that he tried to make her leave Brandon, and that either Dani told Brandon, or he would - he meant that they slept together, she means the money though.  Brandon seems to take it relatively well, considering.

Gwyneth and Garry arrives back in Cwmderi.  Gwyneth is distraught an the betrayal, and rips up some family photos with her in.

Friday 9 September 2011

9 September 2011

Gwyneth is worried because Yvonne didn't come home last night.  Yvonne texts Garry to tell him that he's won, she's left Cwmderi.  Garry calls round, and Gwyneth confides in him.  He pretends to be comforting and surprised, of course, but he's the one who has driven her out.

Garry's party arrangements are changed from Y Deri to somewhere in Swansea.  Gaynor offers Gwyneth a lift, out of guilt for being short with her.  When Gwyneth goes upstairs to collect Gwern, Gaynor turns Gwyneth's phone off... why?  To stop Yvonne contacting Gwyneth?  But what is her vested interest in all this?

Garry and Hwyel clash in the street over Ffion.  Garry tries to apologise for forcing her to drink a glass of wine, but Hwyel tells him to stay away.  Garry says that she was in pieces after Hwyel.. interesting!

Ffion later is seen drunk in a pub, falling all over some young man.

Meic and Anita go out for a nice lunch, and they talk.  She says she understands that Meic fired Denzil because he was jealous, but Anita says Meic is the only man she is interested in.

In Swansea, Gwyneth says she'll go home unless Gaynor explains, but then Yvonne appears coming out of a cafe.  Inside they talk.  She doen't tell her what's going on, but begs for her trust, and asks that she and Gwern comes away with her.  When Yvonne goes off for a moment, her phone rings.  It's Garry.  Garry tells Gwyneth that Yvonne has been working as a snitch for FCI.  Unfortunately Gwyneth has already told Yvonne where they are.  Gwyneth walks out.

Thursday 8 September 2011

8 September 2011

It's Wil's birthday.  He is a little rude in his lacklustre thanks for his presents.  He doesn't know Sheryl and Gethin are throwing him a party.

Garry turns up and starts throwing his weight around.  Yvonne is clearly petrified of him.  It slips out that Jinx is going to be the father to Yvonne's child, Garry says it will never happen and he'll find a way to stop them.  Not sure why?  Garry is also highly insulting later to Jinx in Y Deri.

Later, Yvonne asks Garry to come to the Red Lion in half an hour.  The moment she's gone, Ffion happens along, and Garry asks Ffion to Y Deri, saying one drink never did anybody any harm.  Garry does more harm still with Ffion, as he exerts pressure on her to drink, without knowing she's just come out of rehab.  After considerable hesitation, she takes a drink of wine, but leaves the rest of the glass.

Macs overhears one child telling another boy that the boy is gay.  Macs, perhaps because of the rape, is highly sensitive to discussions about sexual orientation.  He zooms out of his classroom and remonstrates with them.  Ffion sees he's overreacting, asks for a word, and dismisses the boys.  Macs blames it on the worry of the impending court case.

Macs is unnecessarily unpleasant to Sioned, giving one word answers to her.  She wants to help him but he's a closed door.  Macs is tearful and full of apologies later, but he says he doesn't think things will get better for him, that he'll just keep hurting her, and they should split up.

Garry reiterates to Yvonne that she must leave... and she does, packing her things and leaving.

Wednesday 7 September 2011

7 September 2011

Eifion nearly puts his foot in it, by mentioning to Eileen that someone's wife is pregnant "too".  Muppet.  Her attention is distracted by Norman, trying to be pleasant, but Eileen is rather rude to him.  She later feels guilty because she finds she's managed to get a job as a tutor for an evening class, thanks to Norman's interventions.  She's already realised Cadno is pregnant.  Norman comes into Y Deri, and Eileen thanks him.  But his polite but lukewarm reaction suggests that his feelings remain hurt.

Norman talks to Jim Probert, and gives him the contract.  ABD are sacked.  Dani and Brandon hurl childish insults at Norman, and Eileen stands by him.

Cadno tries to get her job back in the cafe, but Kevin says he can't sack Debbie because Cadno changed her mind.  But he'll try and give her as many hours as he can.  When Debbie shows up late for a shift, Kevin asks Meic to help.  But Meic is distracted, and it's clear he doesn't trust leaving Anita, even with Denzil, of all people!  He returns to Y Deri to find them laughing innocently about something and nothing.  It seems the damage is still unrepaired.  Meic later argues with Denzil over something petty, and sacks him in a fit of rage.  He then hires Dani, in what appears to be an attempt to turn the tables and make Anita jealous.

Garry trades insults with Dani.  When Brandon returns, Garry says he needs someone to run the garage becaues Gethin is leaving - news to everyone of course.  Later, Garry again threatens to tell Brandon that he slept with Dani.  Dani calls his bluff, and challenges him to tell Brandon, on the grounds that Brandon will as a  bonus never forgive Garry in addition to never forgiving Dani.

6 September 2011

It's the first day of the new academic year, and Ricky is starting at Ysgol Yr Mynach.

Yvonne is panicking.  She looks at flights on the internet, and receives a mysterious phone call from a Colin, with who she converses in English (with a very English accent).  Who is  Yvonne working for in secret?

She goes to see Gaynor, in a state, and says that Garry could tell 'the gang' that she was the 'FCI contact'.  But Gaynor's options - tell Gwyneth and hope she understands, or disappear - do not appeal to  Yvonne.

Ffion and Macs have a long conversation, it seems people are only interested in them because of her alcoholism and his impending court case.

Sion comes to Gaynor's house, and stirs up trouble, asking how long this farce (of Lois and Huw) is going to continue.  He asks if she even knows who the father is.  Colin throws him out.

Macs goes back to the flat at lunchtime, rather than face a crowd in the canteen.  Sioned tries to be nice and make him lunch, but they bicker.  It seems they still have a lot of work to do, if they are to get their relationship back on track.

Monday 5 September 2011

5 September 2011

Gwyneth, Yvonne and Jinx are astonished to see Garry, and not pleasantly.  Initially they assume he's escaped, but he shows them he is tagged.  He has to be back in his flat by 9pm every night.  It seems incredible that he's only served 4 months of a 4 year sentence - this is stretching credibility somewhat.

Garry wants to see Gwern.  Initially the ladies say no, but when Gwern wakes up crying, they bring him downstairs and Garry spends a few minutes with him.

Garry's next stop is Dani and Brandon's flat.  Garry spies Dani texting someone, and whilst nobody is looking, he discovers that it's Gethin.  Garry goes to Gethin's garage, Garry follows but it's too late, Garry finds some of the stolen items and deduces that Gethin and Dani staged the break-in.  He wants his money back.

Gethin goes to see Sheryl, and the truth comes out, that Gethin staged the break-in.

Garry threatens Yvonne, and says he spent time in jail because of her, and he wants her gone from Cwmderi by the end of the week.

Friday 2 September 2011

2 September 2011

Yvonne and Gwyneth ask Jinx to donate in the evening.  He's stil conflicted about whether to do the right thing.  He doesn't get a sympathetic ear from Hwyel either, whose mind is still on the news that Rhys is Gwen's father.

Hwyel tells Gaynor that Rhys is the father. They have a huge row and she throws him out.  He returns and apologises, and they continue to talk.  Gaynor wants to tell Lois that she knows, but Hwyel is not convinced this will help.  He certainly doesn't want her to tell Colin and Sion.

Cadno counts days in her diary.  Is she 'late'?  Eileen suggests that Eifion should ask Cadno to marry him, and suggests that Cadno may be expecting some romance.  Denzil, Marian and Eileen plan a nice meal with Eifion and Cadno.  Cadno tells Eifion that they can't go to New Zealand, she did two tests today and she's pregnant.  She's apologetic, Eifion is delighted.

At dinner, Cadno and Eifion tell the others that they aren't going to New Zealand, that they have changed their minds.

Jinx 'donates' later in the day, and all seems fine.  They are just celebrating with a glass of bubbly, when there is a knock on the door.  Standing there is Garry Monk!

Thursday 1 September 2011

1 September 2011

Gaynor and Hywel fuss over the baby.  Huw and Lois take baby Gwen (who interestingly, is played by a little boy!) out for the first time.

Rhys breaks down and tells Hwyel that he's Gwen's father.  His state is odd, given that he then goes on to tell Hwyel that Huw is welcome to Gwen, he doesn't want anything to do with the baby.

Sioned tries again to make Macs tell his solicitor about his attack.  He is unmoved, but Sioned says that he could lose his job, or even go to prison.  Sioned says she is going to tell Macs's solicitor the whole story, to try and ensure he doesn't go to jail.

Macs goes to see Gaynor, and literally cries on her shoulder.  He's frightened and worried for the future.  He is petrified of going to jail, having been raped once, he's convinced it would happen again in jail.  Gaynor says she will do everything she can to help him, and that nobody deserves to go through what he's been through.

Norman calls on Eileen, and they talk again.  She is cross with him for not being honest, and won't see the lighter side.  They argue and he leaves, both of them upset.

Kevin and Meic talk about his relationship with Anita.  Meic admits that he doesn't think he'll be able to trust her again, but Kevin counsels him to start again, and not throw the relationship and all their memories away.  Meic later tells Anita he wants to rekindle, and suggests going out for a meal together.

Wednesday 31 August 2011

31 August 2011

Anita invites Diane and Eileen for a night out in Llanelli.  Debbie invites herself along.  She also asks Ffion, but she declines, to avoid the temptation of alcohol.  Ffion does however volunteer to drive them there, to save on the taxi fare.  She joins the party but sensibly elects not to drink - no mean feat when the girls are all drinking.  Eileen has a major shock though when the drag act turns out to be Norman!  He recognises her too, and exits the stage quickly - but he later comes over, still in drag, and makes conversation with all the girls except Eileen.

Eileen goes backstage and talks to Norman, more openly this time.  Predictably she asks him if he's gay.  Yawn.  Hardly.  Not with that dress sense.  He says he does it to pay the bills, and he continues that he enjoys it, it's fun.  He never imagined Eileen would turn up to a show like that.

Megan invites herself round to Dai's house, and whilst she is well meaning, Dai is quickly bored.  Megan somehow gets the impression that Diane is an alcoholic, but actually the empty beer cans are Dai's.

Meic is a little melancholic without Anita in the pub.  He confides in Denzil that he wouldn't hesitate to take Anita back.  An interesting happenstance, since Anita has already confided in Eileen that she'd be very happy to give it another go with Meic.  When Anita comes home, they have a little talk, but make no progress.

Tuesday 30 August 2011

30 August 2011

Wil returns.  Sheryl wants to take Wil and Gethin camping, but Gethin says he has to work.  Dani comes along, and Sheryl invites her and Brandon to come along.

Debbie has annoyed Kevin, by agreeing to close the cafe for a private coffee morning for Megan's charity.  Worse still, she's brought in her own homemade fairy cakes.  Things get worse still when Kevin hands over the bill, and it turns out the cafe is in fact doing the event for free.  Kevin is not happy, he's not only paid for a coffee party but he's lost a morning's trade.  But after some baiting from Probert, Kevin defends Debbie.

Sioned takes Macs to a secluded spot so that the two of them can talk.  She apologises to Macs, and says she is shocked that another man could do such a thing to him.  She tells him she loves him.  They go to a country pub and things seem to be going okay, but then Sioned suggests that they stay overnight at a B&B.  Macs remains frightened of intimacy and he doesn't want to stay overnight.  He asks Sioned to stay at Marian's again.  One step forward, two steps back.

Monday 29 August 2011

29 August 2011

Lois's baby Gwen comes home, to much excitement.  Hywel doesn't seem to be able to say anything right, and he and Gaynor bicker pointlessly.  He's trying to get involved, but he's finding himself pushed out of the crowd (the crowd being Huw, Lois, Gaynor and Colin).

Colin arrives with a rocking horse.  Considering his granddaughter is barely a fortnight old, he's somewhat early!

Sion is not being supportive towards Huw, but this is as nothing to how he reacts when Huw says he's not going back to school.  Sion is upset that Huw would appear to throw away his career prospects to raise another man's child.  Huw cannot make Sion understand, Sion cannot get Huw to entertain his point of view. Where do they go from here?

Eifion and Cadno continue to make plans for New Zealand, but Cadno's taste in hotels seems to be expensive.

Sioned reappears after a weekend in Aberystwyth.  Iolo is unhappy with her for abandoning Macs when he needs her most.  She's being pretty selfish, and Iolo sets her straight - it's him who is suffering, not her.  She needs to shape up, forget her hurt over the recent past and get behind Macs.

Friday 26 August 2011

26 August 2011

Oh no!  Sioned leaves a card for Macs on the table, it looks like she's leaving him.  Whilst it's easy to be objective and believe that she's behaving callously, she has been under great pressure because of Macs's behaviour over the last few months.  She finds herself at a bus stop, quickly accompanied by Britt.  Britt is not daft, and whilst she says nothing, there is an atmosphere hanging in the air.

Later, Macs finds the letter.  We don't see it.  Britt comes by to see if she can help, but Macs isn't receptive.

Lois goes to see the baby, with Huw and Colin in tow.  It's very emotionally charged.  Lois decides she wants to call the baby Gwen, after Huw's mother - an amazing thing, especially when Huw isn't the biological father.  Lois's maternal feelings quickly kick in, and she wants the baby back, very strongly.

Huw talks to his father Sion, and things don't go well. Even the news of the baby's new name doesn't go well, he does not find it an honourable way for his late mother to be remembered, which is sad.

EIleen goes against everyone's judgment, and goes on a date with Probert.  Astonishingly, things seem to go well until the bill arrives, when Eileen suggests they go Dutch, and Probert suggests she pays it!

Thursday 25 August 2011

25 August 2011

Lois is not-so-quietly shitting herself, as well she might be, her exam results are about to come through.  We won't mention that she cheated on at least one whilst Ffion was too pissed to notice!  Gaynor heads off to the school, as does Ffion.  Huw walks straight past Rhys, to whom he has nothing to say - but don't forget Rhys has only known he's a father for a matter of a week, but Huw has known for ages.

Some soon-to-be former pupils with nothing to lose are taking the piss out of Ffion, brandishing water bottles.  It's really awkward.  Gaynor galiantly offers to step in, but Ffion declines; she doesn't want to make more of it then necessary.  Ffion says she feels just awful about the trouble she caused.  When Lois walks in, it's like the parting of the Red Sea... in she wafts with Huw.  Nevertheless she scored an A*, A, B, B, B, C, C, C and D, D.  Huw is despondent, he got B in Cwmraeg but C in everything else.  Rhys scored five A* and "a heap of Bs".

Anita and Meic are a little melancholy when tickets they ordered months ago for The Sound of Music arrive.  They are both trying, for sure.  Anita suggests they go anyway.  It's obvious that Meic wanted to go together but he can't bring himself to, and he suggests that Anita ask Diane.

Norman helps Eileen on her laptop to take photo and upload it to a dating website.  It should be awkward but actually it's very sweet, and Eileen looks upon him at least as fondly as she did before.  Maybe there is a future for them together.

Later, Eileen is in the cafe, browsing the dating website, but oh Christ!  She finds Probert on it!!  He catches her looking, comes over, looks at her laptop and makes a lascivious remark.  Sadly he suggests he and Eileen go on a date.  It couldn't be much more awkward.

Later when Gaynor suggests people go out and celebrate, there is noticeable tension.  Lois elects to stay in with her father Colin.  He excuses himself after the meal, and Lois has Huw round.  They watch a DVD but she can't concentrate.  She says she is ready to see the baby.

Meic and Anita share a drink after locking up.  Anita is ready to ask Meic to stay, but he isn't ready and leaves, but it's sweet even so.

Wednesday 24 August 2011

24 August 2011

Diane and Anita have a heart-to-heart.  Anita says that the other day, things felt like they were almost back to normal, and she hopes Meic will take her back.

Anita and Colin run into each other, and things are cordial, but awkward.  He says he'll pop round later to collect a few things he left behind.  It's pretty clear that there is no way back for them.

Anita talks to Meic, and says she doesn't expect forgiveness, but she wants very much to try again to rekindle their relationship.  Meic says he needs more time, but he is willing to try again, slowly.

Later, Meic talks to his son Kevin.  Meic isn't sure what he wants.  Kevin counsels Meic to give things another chance, or he will be full of regret, just as Anita is now.

Dai is bored in the house, and unfortunately Diane leaves the new Banc Dyfed credit card lying around.  Before long, Dai is gambling online, and quite a lot at a time too.  Denzil counsels to the contrary but Meic continues, and before long, he's lost £3,000.  Diane is angry, obviously, but Dai gets away lightly!

Debbie starts work in the cafe, and aside from a little friction with Cadno, she seems to be starting well.

Tuesday 23 August 2011

23 August 2011

Gethin is back from London.  He dashes indoors to avoid Sheryl, who is not best pleased.  He later says he wanted to have a wash etc before he spoke to her.  He comes bearing gifts however, some pretty lingerie.

Sioned does some research, and gives Macs some websites and helplines for rape victims.  He just wants to leave the subject, but he's forgetting that whilst it's old news to him (albeit upsetting), it's new news to her, and she's still coming to terms with it.

Macs tries haplessly to rekindle their love life, but he's clumsy, and Sioned tells him to leave her alone.  It's pretty likely that she can't separate him and her, from him and Scott.

Marian sticks her damn beak in and tries to make Sioned tell her what's on her mind, but she won't be drawn.  No bad thing really, since Marian would be incapable of keeping it to herself and expressing sensitivity.  Later Sioned tries to get Denzil to help Marian.  Denzil suggests Macs, but Sioned says no, and tells Denzil that Macs has M.E.  It's a lie of course but it stops him pursuing it.  Denzil suggests a holiday to Sioned, South Africa, why doesn't she take Leighton up on his offer?  He counsels her to enjoy life and to travel whilst she's young.

Jinx tries to make peace with Yvonne and Gwyneth, but whilst one is conciliatory, the other is not, and says that she wants him to move out.  Shocking.  Later, Yvonne and Gwyneth talk, and both are calmer.  Yvonne texts Jinx and asks him to come over.  They say that whilst they'd be the parents, he would have a part in the child's life, like an uncle.  He says he needs more time to think.  He talks to Denzil, who is realistic but gloomy.  Back at Yvonne and Gwyneth's, they reassure him that they won't ask him for money, and they will cross troublesome bridges when they are reached - Jinx agrees.  First donation could be as early as next week.

The lovely Eifion and Cadno tell Kevin that they will now be going away for 3 months, rather than 1.  They plan to work on a farm in Hamilton.

Monday 22 August 2011

22 August 2011

Macs returns to his house.  Sioned thinks that Iolo has thrown him out, but he says he wanted to return to tell her the truth.  She thinks that he is having an affair with some woman, but with a heavy heart he tells her the truth - that Scott spiked his drink, and raped him, and that there was nothing he could do, he couldn't fight back.

She's shocked, frightened, upset and confused.  She can't understand why he didn't report it, but Macs says that if he'd done so, the whole village would know.  She says they will get through it, together.

Later in Y Deri though things are understandably continuing to play on her mind, and she thinks that Scott must be gay, and was gay all along whilst he was seeing Sioned.  Later still at home, Macs admits that he only attacked the guy the other week because he called him a poof.  Sioned tries to make Macs tell the Police or his solicitor this, but he is unmovable.

He apologises for being angry, again she understands.  He says that they haven't slept together for months, she says there is no rush, and embraces him tightly.

Eifion and Cadno tell Eileen and Denzil that they are going to be away for 3 months.  Eileen reacts very evenly, but she's upset, and she has other things on her mind too.

Dani gets some money from the insurance company for the fake burglary a few weeks ago, £2,500, and gives it to ABD.  Brandon suggests that ABD should give Dani a share in the company.  Someone says 1%, but Brandon persists and secures her 5%.  Dani jokes that they'll have to rename it AB-double-D.. funny considering how big her boobs are.

Friday 19 August 2011

19 August 2011

Whilst Dai's fake heart attack should have eased the pressure, things get worse, because Tomas & Ellis cancel the contract with ABD.  The second mortgage comes through for ABD, and it handsomely covers the kitchen for Norman's contract, but with Dai "out of action" there are few people left to install it.

Normans calls in Eileen, to apologise for the shabby end to their last evening together.  He breaks off their fledgling relationship.  He blames his long hours and an inability to relax, and admits that he was fond of another lady some time ago, but couldn't make it work.  It's very nice and civil, but after he leaves, Eileen is very upset.

Meic and Anita have a rare laugh together behind the bar.  When the laugh ends, they look at each other, and it seems there is still something left between them.

Brandon and Dani have a giggle on their sofa, and it seems Dani is very much changing her mind about parenthood, she thinks she would like a child one day, and perhaps to be a wife.

Thursday 18 August 2011

18 August 2011

Norman is on the hunt for ABD, who are in serious financial trouble, thanks to confidence trickster "Frank".  He catches up with Probert, who tells him they are a bunch of cowboys.  The two of them happen upon Debbie being served by Kevin.  Debbie tells Kevin that Eifion and Cadno are going to New Zealand in September, for a month.

Eifion and Cadno realise that there is more to see than can be seen in a month, and decide in fact to go for three months!

Norman finds Dai and Diane, and bawls them out, he's clearly suspicious.  But as things are getting intense, Dai doubles over in pain.  An ambulance is called, and he is quickly rushed to hospital.  Norman calls on Eileen and tells her about Dai.  He takes Eileen to a tapas restaurant in Cwrymynach, but the evening is cut short when Norman claims to have indigestion.

Dai admits he faked the heart attack to get out of the awkward conversation with Norman.  When Norman phones later, Diane over-eggs it and tells Norman that it was touch and go.

Iolo reassures Macs that there is nothing in the Western Post or the more local press about the court case, but Macs decides he must tell Sion because Sioned blabs to him.  Sion comes around with Macs's post from Sioned, and he already knows.  Iolo tells Sion that Macs got into a fight because two guys called him a poof, and that this brought back memories of his attack by Scott.  Sion says Macs should tell the magistrate, but Macs is adamant he will not.  Sion decides to take matters into his own hands, and confides in Britt about Macs.  Britt dashes around to see Macs, and is sympathetic, but Macs is embarrassed and angry with Sion for telling her, after promising weeks ago that he wouldn't.  He says again that he cannot be honest with Sioned.

Wednesday 17 August 2011

17 August 2011

Eifion is worried about what will happen to the farm whilst he and Cadno are away.  He's not very romantic bless him, thank God he looks hot though.

Yvonne has a proper go at Jinx, who slept at Cwm FM to avoid Yvonne and Gwyneth.  She says that he has betrayed their confidence and their friendship, and they are both angry and upset.  Hwyel tells Jinx he'd be a fool to turn down the chance, Jinx says he doesn't know if the opportunity is still open.  He thinks he may have blown it.

Macs gets back from court.  Iolo tries and fails to persuade him to tell Sioned about Scott.   Back at their house, Sioned is confused and angry with Macs, more so when Macs says he is going to live with Iolo for a few days to clear his head.  He spins some story about needing to clear his head.  He says he'd rather be dumped by Sioned than admit the truth that he was raped 2½ months ago.  It just goes to show what a mess he remains mentally.

Gethin and Sheryl get back from their weekend away.  Sheryl suggests several times that Gethin moves in, but he's not keen, dropping excuses about being too busy etc.  She tries to invite herself onto his trip to London, but he shuts her down, saying that she's moving too quickly.  She's a little hurt.

Tuesday 16 August 2011

16 August 2011

Macs is quickly arrested at home for ABH.  Jinx sees him leave and watches carefully, Sioned sees the car driving away and runs after him, to no avail of course.  Sioned phones Cwrtmynach Police but they know nothing about the case, so where has he been taken.  Macs later phones Iolo, and it transpires that Macs is at Swansea Police.  Sioned finds Iolo just as he's hanging up the phone, she wants to go with Iolo but Macs wants Iolo alone.  Later when Macs is back at Iolo's, Sioned bangs on the door, furious that Macs is shutting her out.  He admits he's out on bail and has a plea hearing, but says he's staying at Iolo's tonight, and will explain later.  She is very upset.

Jinx is treated royally by the two lesbians, and he is quickly suspicious that they want something.  They tell him that they want to have another baby, and that they want Jinx to be the father.  He is astonished; he was a homeless junkie just two years ago, but they say it's his strength of character in overcoming his adversity that convinced them.

Jinx goes to Y Deri to celebrate, and unfortunately his tongue loosens.  He tells someone that he's going to be a father, and quickly word gets around.  Mark and Debbie go around to Yvonne and Gwyneth's house, trying to sell Mark as a donor!  They are very unhappy with Debbie and Mark, and unhappy with Jinx for apparently spreading the word around.

Hywel tells his son Rhys that Lois has had a baby (he is in fact the biological father but Hywel doesn't know this).  Rhys visits Lois, and Lois tells him that he's the father.  He's shocked and in disbelief, but Lois assures him it's the truth, and that he isn't playing any part of things now.

Gethin takes Sheryl to a nice country hotel, but disaster soon looks imminent, when Gethin spots someone he clearly doesn't want to see.  He manages to wriggle out of being seen by taking Sheryl upstairs, apparently unseen by the stranger.

Monday 15 August 2011

15 August 2011

Macs tells a whopper of a lie to Sioned, he says that his "test results" are back, and that he is suffering from M.E.  She has not been happy with him as his behaviour has been strange all weekend.  He makes her promise not to tell anyone about his "diagnosis", then shooes her out of the house to run the shop.  He later fakes being asleep, to keep his symptoms up.

Colin and Lois move out, and it's clear Colin has finished at Y Deri.  This leaves Anita in the lurch, as Meic has a dental appointment, and Anita has to go to the cash and carry.  Lois moves back to her mother's house.  She reacts angrily to the news that Huw and Gaynor have been to see the baby.

Ffion braves a visit to Y Deri - courageous or stupid, one or the other - and talks to Anita about how the old Ffion would have been on her third glass by now.  However she buys a bottle of water and leaves fairly quickly.

Gaynor catches up with Ffion, and they have a chat.  Ffion says she has realised how selfish she has been, and that selfish people who desperately want something don't care who gets hurt in the process - strong echoes of Gaynor's feelings about Lois's baby.

Anita offers Diane a job in Y Deri, but Meic has already offered a job to Denzil.  Diane won't back down, and both Diane and Denzil end up behind the bar whilst Anita leaves for the cash and carry.

Friday 12 August 2011

12 August 2011

Macs drives to a house, but a man who looks like Scott from behind turns out not to be him.  Macs had a wheel spanner in his hand, so it seems he's serious about intending to cause real harm to Scott.  He calls at another house, and the woman who answers the door, clearly his mother, confirms that he lives there.  She says that Scott is in Thailand for at least a couple of months, and shows Macs a postcard.  He leaves politely with smiles, but it's obvious that his has fired his anger.  He ends up in an anonymous bar, drinking on his own, and ignoring calls from Sioned.

Macs has an altercation with someone in the bar, who calls him a poof.  Macs punches him repeatedly, giving the guy a nosebleed.  Later back home, Macs is defensive to Sioned's questions about where he has been all day, and it's clear he has bruised from the fight.  He's still showing signs of distress after the rape.

Brandon has finished the repair work at Yvonne and Gwyneth's house.  They talk about having another baby, this time together.  Yvonne suggests that Gwyneth adopts Gwern, so they would both be his legal parents.

Ffion returns, looking hugely better, and she and Sheryl embrace.  When they talk in the café, she says it's all down to Sheryl that she's a different person, but also that there is still a long way to go.  Ffion asks Sheryl to remove two wine bottles from the kitchen, to remove temptation.

Cadno tries to surprise the lovely Eifion with flights to New Zealand, but he isn't pleased at the money she has spent, and thinks that she hasn't considered his views or who will look after the farm.

Dani makes a decision to come off the pill, she feels bad for lying to Brandon, and doesn't believe that Garry will tell Brandon about their one night stand in Newcastle.  Her pills are nearly discovered though, and it's a tense moment.

Thursday 11 August 2011

11 August 2011

Gaynor talks to social services, unbeknownst to Lois and Hwyel.  Huw doesn't like going behind Lois's back, but Gaynor says that she is doing it for her.  They go to see the baby, and Huw and Gaynor hold her, briefly.

Sion is angry that Gaynor is, in his view, continuing to keep Huw involved in a baby that he is not the father of.

Macs is going off to speak to a professional therapist about being raped 2½ months ago.  Iolo drives him there, but Macs bottles out, afraid, and walks away.  He late walks back into the end of Huw's argument with Sion, and decides to tell a white lie, and not admit he didn't go.  Macs says he is going to find Scott, and kill him.

Meic is angy with Anita, he feels that she is intentionally refusing permission for things that Meic wants, such as opening early to watch rugby matches.  Meic is adamant that he will not work with Colin, who wrecked his marriage, and that he will make Colin leave.

Anita talks to Colin, who does not react well to being told that he can't work the same hours as Meic, but this won't leave him enough to live on, so he realises he has to leave.  He asks that Anita tells the Social Security that he was sacked, as it'll make it easier to claim benefit.  Anita says that there is no rush for him to move out.  Colin manages to get Iolo to agree to let him and Lois stay for a few days.

Wednesday 10 August 2011

10 August 2011

Huw wants to see Lois, but Colin says that she doesn't want to see anyone.  He prevails however, and Lois agrees to talk to Huw.  Things don't go well however when Huw suggests that they go and see the baby - Lois says she never wants to see the baby again, and stonewalls Huw.

Gaynor uses a hefty dose of what might be called emotional blackmail to get upstairs and see Lois.  That doesn't go well either.

Norman arranges to meet Eileen in Y Deri, but stands her up.  He phones to say that he forgot he has a business appointment - but he's taking a suitcase with him.  What's he up to?  Is he going on holiday, having an affair?  Something isn't quite right!

Meic organises a lock-in after hours at Y Deri, but Colin breaks up the party, followed by Anita, who tells Meic he had no right to organise it without her permission, as it is her name over the door, not Meic's.  Everyone leaves, it is rather hashtag-awkward.

Tuesday 9 August 2011

9 August 2011

The two lesbians' house is rendered virtually uninhabitable by Brandon's building work to remove damp from firstly one then two of the bedrooms.  As a result, Gwern goes to stay with Brandon and Dani.

Probert is happy because he has his daughter to stay.  She tells Yvonne to kiss and make up.

Gethin and Dani talk about ABD's woes.  Gethin suggests using the money they stole in the robbery, but Dani reaslises Brandon would want to know where it came from.

Gethin hasn't spent much time with Sheryl lately, she asks him out to Y Deri, but he doesn't show.  She is cross, and blanks him.  But he persists, and says that he's been working overtime to get the money together to take her away for a day or so.

Dai goes to the bank to ask for a loan to help ABD.  The bank will allow them to remortgage, but only to £20k, leaving them short.  Diane sees the positive, that it's £20k more than they had this morning, but Dai is despondent.

Monday 8 August 2011

8 August 2011

Lois is staying with Colin in Y Deri, but this leaves people in an awkward situation.  Lois doesn't want to see anyone yet.  Whilst Colin is out getting things for her, Gaynor and Hwyel turn up, wanting to see her.  Anita stops them from seeing Lois, as per her wishes, but it creates had feeling.

Dai, Diane, Brandon and Dani get together to try and work out what to do, with ABD's account emptied, they have no money to finish off the contract for Norman, who is already starting to ask questions.  Dani's sarcasm is unhelpful.

Norman is out looking for them.  After getting warning of this they scramble.  Diane and Dani concoct a story that Dai and Brandon are ill in bed with a bug.

Brandon is having a problem with the ABD computer, the password doesn't seem to be working.

Mark talks to Liam again, who remains worried about whether Meic will talk to the Police.  Liam is still very jittery, and jumps at a loud noise.  Meanwhile, Debbie tries to persuade Meic not to speak to the Police.  Liam later speaks to Meic, who agrees that he won't.  Macs and Liam make peace with each other.  Liam decides to head up to Birmingham early.  Debbie is upset by the news.

Lois arrives back in Cwmderi by taxi, and goes to Colin.  Huw returns, and he's confused and upset by her actions.  Gaynor and Huw go to the hospital to see the baby, the hospital are being cautious; they have named the baby Millie, after where she was found (the Millennium Centre).  Gaynor is allowed to have a photgraph taken with the baby.

Tuesday 2 August 2011

2 August 2011

Huw and Lois have eloped to a small flat in Cardiff, and it turns out Iolo is in on the elopement.  Whilst Huw goes out for pizza, Lois appears to go into labour.  Amazingly unrealistically, when Huw returns, she has given birth on her own completely unassisted, to a daughter.  Lois reluctantly allows Huw to call an ambulance, so that the two of them are safe.  However, when his back is turned, she disappears with the baby, and goes into the Millennium Centre.  She leaves the baby in the toilets with a note, asking for the baby to be cared for.  The Police are called, and the baby is taken away.

Liam and Debbie talk, Liam says that he was with his colleague Andy when his leg was blown off by an IED.  Liam has nightmares - but they are about a Taliban man he shot at close range, because he thinks he enjoyed shooting him.

Liam remains troubled, both by what he saw and did, but also his more recent behaviour in Y Deri.  Debbie is worried that if the Police become involved, it could cause Liam problems when he returns from leave.

Dai and Diane are enjoying themselves thoughtfully in the hotel, and they think about the importance of family.  Later, they make contact with some family they haven't seen for a while via webcam.

Monday 1 August 2011

1 August 2011

Episode 1

People are welcoming to Liam, but he's a little shy around them.  For all his niceness, it's clear he's using humour to cover up the bad experiences in Afghanistan.  He flatly refuses to be interviewed by Jinx on Cwm FM, and walks away.  When loses his temper with a milk carton it becomes clearer he has PTSD.

Frank tells Brandon that he's made a payment transfer to ABD's account but needs a password.  Brandon very stupidly gives him two passwords, and Frank writes them down when Brandon's back is turned.  Is Frank a confidence trickster?  When he tells Dai and Diane that he's booked a hotel in Cardiff for them for a couple of nights, they don't seem to think anything is wrong.  Neither do Brandon and Dani, when Frank packs them off for a show.

Episode 2

Macs finds himself under pressure to tell Sioned the truth, but instead he lies, and says his "blood tests" were "lost" and that more are being done.

Episode 1

Dai and Diane's dinner party does not start well, when Frank invites Megan without checking first.  Diane is not amused to learn that Megan has been making the most of Frank's business acumen, or that she plans to move back to the area.  Frank volunteers to give £1000 to a charity of Megan's.  They needn't worry however, as he offers to inject £100,000 into their business!

Liam returns from Afghanistan, but he appears to be very tired, and goes almost straight to bed.

Gethin 'breaks in' to Dani's flat, and makes a convincing mess, Dani's anger when she and Brandon return home is genuine!  She wasn't expecting it to look quite this authentic.

Norman and Eileen finally kiss, but they are interrupted by Eifion, who isn't daft, he knows exactly what they've been up to.

Episode 2

Ffion wakes up in her car with an empty vodka bottle by her side.  More and more people in Cwmderi are starting to talk about her.  She nearly gets herself run over, but she is ungrateful and bumbles off.  Later, she comes into Y Deri, and downs a shot of vodka in a fraction of a second.  She's in a bad way emotionally and physically.  Later still, close to tears, she climbs into a taxi, telling Sheryl that she has obtained a place at a private clinic, that she needs help and can't do it on her own.

Dani gives Gethin a piece of her mind for making such a mess during the fake break-in.  The Police come and investigate.  Dani's plan backfires however, when Brandon comes clean, that he was keeping some of Gary's money safe, and he says that they will have to use their savings to pay Gary back.

Macs is showing signs of improvement, it seems just telling Sion and Iolo has made a big difference.

Debbie and Ricky question Liam about his time in Afghanistan.  He starts to deflect and avoid questions, and it's clear that his time there has been traumatic.  He tells Debbie about his friend Andy and an IED.

Gethin agrees against his better judgment to Dani's request to stage a burglary, to help with her financial worries.

American Frank looks set to examine a business proposal for Megan but then Diane buts in and drags Frank to Y Deri.

Although Frank claims to be extremely rich, we haven't seen a hint of actual wealth yet.

Anita has her doubts about the relationship with Colin, and suggests it might be better if he moved out.

Tuesday 26 July 2011

26 July 2011

Ffion clashes with Gaynor and Hywel in the café, and claims that she's having her first alcohol free day, nevertheless she looks awful.

Macs appears to be off to the doctor, but understandably he lies to Sion about where he's going, when Sion overhears him talking to Sioned.

Sion talks to Iolo and Gaynor about his concerns, whilst Iolo knows a third of the truth, only Gaynor knows all of it.  She tells Sion privately that Macs was sexually assaulted.  Sion rushes straight to Macs, who after being initially hostile, breaks down and cries in Sion's arms.  Sion's compassion towards his son is deeply moving.  Iolo is told, and he too is deeply shocked.

Gaynor and Hywel talk frankly about Lois's pregnancy, Gaynor is upset that she'll effectively have to raise Lois's baby herself.  Gaynor clearly has some residual feelings about the fact that she herself had an abortion.

Monday 25 July 2011

25 July 2011

Colin surprises Anita with a weekend away in Barry, she isn't enthusiastic, Meic feels hurt, but they go anyway.  When they arrive, Anita perks up and it's clear she's happy Colin made the gesture.

Kevin receives a spot-check from the local health department.

Probert's custody case is heard.  Unfortunately he is late because of a puncture, and he arrives flustered and a little agitated.  The case goes well for Probert however, and the Court agrees with Yvonne's recommendations that Courtney spends more time with Probert.  Angela reacts badly though, asking how a lesbian would know what's best for a child (interesting, since this was exactly how Probert reacted to Yvonne in the beginning), and throws a drink over Yvonne after the case ends.

The summer club for the children opens its doors for the first day.  It's busy and it leaves everyone tired but it has been successful.

Friday 22 July 2011

22 July 2011

Ffion claims to have tripped and sprained her ankle, and excuses herself from the fun run.  She promptly takes herself off to Y Deri.  Jinx tries to talk to Ffion, and even makes her listen to his recording of her drunk at the school, but she's not having it.  Interestingly, she hints that Jinx used to be an alcoholic.

Ffion is in serious denial however, and later on, what starts as a well intentioned friendly chat from Sheryl goes rapidly downhill.  Both lose their tempers, and Sheryl slaps her, although she is immediately shocked at herself for doing it.

As the race starts, Dai and Brandon appear in their ridiculous costumes, and clumsily plug ABD on the radio.

Probert meanwhile is doing himself no favours, angrily suggesting that a lesbian (Yvonne Evans) has no right to decide the future of his child, but her wife quickly leaps to her defence.  However Probert is not finished, and he snatches Cwm FM's microphone, blasting the whole village with his criticism.  Later, he demands to be let in to Yvonne's house, and it's clear he's heartbroken - but Yvonne sent her report yesterday.

Sheryl finds Ffion unconscious at home, drunk.

Thursday 21 July 2011

21 July 2011

Debbie is pleased and excited that Liam is coming home, but the flights are awkward and timings are uncertain.  The journey is difficult and dangerous until he is out of the Middle East.

Sion does some family tree research for the American, Frank, and it looks like he may be distantly related to Dai Ashurst.  Dai is a little lukewarm but he soon perks up when he hears that Frank spends his time and money investing in small businesses.  Dai thinks that ABD might be just the sort of small business that Frank invests in.

Megan gives Probert a thorough roasting at his interview to rent a retail unit.  She believes that he'll just open a cheap off-licence, and when he can't demonstrate any knowledge claimed about fine wines, he storms off.  He later has a go at Megan and Diane in Y Deri.

Dani is trying to get herself out of a tight spot.  Brandon nearly discovered that she is on the Pill again, and now she is trying to persuade her brother Gethin to take part in some daft staged burglary to help Dani out of financial trouble.

Wednesday 20 July 2011

20 July 2011

Sioned talks to Macs and suggests that he has lost interest in her.  He is sorry, but doesn't talk about what has happened to him.  Instead, he suggests that it might be better if they split up.

Sioned also suspects that Macs has been seeing someone else, but he is adamant that he hasn't.  She then suggests that maybe it was as a result of him 'falling down the stairs', the cover story Macs gave when he was raped, in order to explain his bruises.  It's clear that Macs is close to breaking down.

He agrees reluctantly to a doctor's appointment, but delays making it, hinting that a few days off, now that the school year has ended, may make him feel better.

Sioned later confides in Eileen that Macs may be ill, and suggests he has M.E.

Sheryl's son Wil upsets Anita, by giving Meic a big cuddle before he goes off to Canada, but refusing to go anywhere near Anita.  Wil was upset when he discovered that Anita and Colin were having an affair.  Anita however is in a bit of a state anyway, saying that she is hurting her nearest and dearest without meaning to.

Megan, an old friend of Eileen's, comes to Cwmderi.

Monday 18 July 2011

19 July 2011

Gaynor is having problems with Lois, who won't face up to the future and make preparations for the baby.  It seems Gaynor is having to do all the hard work herself.

Denzil, Dai and Norman are again clashing over the building works.. Norman is such a twat!  At the rate he's carying on he'll give himself another ulcer.

Sheryl and Gethin discuss Ffion's alcoholism.  There is no easy answer, but Ffion looks awful, and Sheryl is worried about Ffion being around her son Wil.  Sheryl catches up with Ffion in Y Deri, and Ffion claims to be drinking orange juice - but in the background, her 'water bottle' is lurking.  It won't be long before people spot her doing it.

Dani and her brother Gethin go out to a club.

Gaynor and Hwyel buy baby things for Lois, but she stays out with Huw.

18 July 2011

Ohian Frank talks to Sion, who offers an interview in the local paper about his heritage.  Interestingly, and possibly significantly, Frank refuses to have his picture taken, citiing some silly phobia, but this doesn't ring true.

One of Frank's ancestors rings a bell with Sion.  Might this be a lead to his ancestry?

Debbie's son Liam calls, he's been granted leave, but for reasons as yet unknown he won't come home, he wants to go to Birmingham to stay with a friend.  Liam seems very edgy, anger barely concealed below the surface.  There's definitely an interesting story behind this.

Macs's behaviour is still upsetting Sioned.  Macs refuses to take part in the local fun run, even when asked by his father Sion.  When Sioned sends Macs a text asking when he's coming home, he promptly calls for a taxi into town.  Sioned walks into Y Deri, and he claims it's an end of term staff party.

He returns home in the early hours, drunk and noisy.

Friday 15 July 2011

15 July 2011

Episode 1

Leighton is waving goodbye, literally, to things in the village.  Britt has already excused herself from saying goodbye because of a school trip, Huw is doing something with Lois, so this leaves just Sion to wave him off.  Leighton is feeling a little lonely.  When he has a meal with Marian later, he actually breaks down and admits he doesn't want to go back to South Africa.

Cwm FM is up for an award for Jinx's programme about the monks, but Jinx is not happy, saying that if they win, they will doubtless be found out, and he could be out of a job.  Hywel tries to ask Sion to keep quiet that he knows the programme was fake, but he is stonewalled.

After the observed session with Courtney and Angela, Angela behaves badly by trying to insist that she observes the session with Jim Probert and Courtney.  Although the case worker obviously doesn't like Probert, something about Angela's behaviour and Probert's insistence seems to strike a chord.  Is she starting to melt a bit?  When Probert's session is over, it's clear that both he and Courtney are upset it's over, but that it went very well.

Episode 2

Macs and Sioned are still bickering.  When Macs turns up for a community cricket match, he can't bring himself to get changed, more specifically to get undressed (since Scott had to remove Macs' clothes in order to rape him), and Macs runs out of the room.  When Iolo tries to stop him, Macs shouts at him for touching him.  Iolo goes after him, but can't find him.  Sioned gets upset talking to Iolo, it's clear she is close to her wits' end.  She doesn't understand why Macs is suddenly a different person.  Iolo still doesn't know the truth but he clearly suspects.

When Macs gets home he doesn't react well to Iolo being there, and even after he leaves when Sioned tries to find out what's wrong, Macs is hostile.  It's not clear how much longer Sioned can stay with him.  Eileen is starting to notice the strain Sioned is under.  But when Macs goes to his mother's grave and asks what he's going to do, it's hard not to feel huge sympathy for him.

Thursday 14 July 2011

14 July 2011

Diane encourages Dai to join in with the fun run, but he's having none of it.  Nevertheless she says that if she can get Brandon to run it, Dai will do it too.  Brandon agrees, as does Dani, Dai is not impressed!

Anita suggests to Meic that they visit Wil together, to give him a present before he goes to Canada, but Meic refuses, thoughtfully, and says that it's too soon and the hurt Anita caused is too fresh.

Probert has received a letter informing him of the observed visit with his daughter Courtney, and asks his case worker questions - in the middle of the cafe.  Quite rightly she tells him it's not the time or place to discuss it but gives him a quick outline as quietly as she can manage.

Colin attempts to lift Anita's spirits with a surprise - redecorating the lounge over the pub in a whoreish red - but she doesn't like the colour.  It's not surprising, to be honest it's hideous, but since when have straight men really had a clue about interior decor?

Meanwhile Dani enlists her brother Gethin's help to redecorate their kitchen in a more tasteful pastel blue.  But Gethin clearly realises this is transference, Dani is channelling her energies into this to avoid thinking about or dealing with the fact that she is taking the Pill again.

American Frank is ingratiating himself in Y Deri, this time with Kevin, having already made firm friends with his father Meic.  Meanwhile Denzil counsels Meic against making fun of Colin in Anita's company, as it can only lead to no good.

Probert is still very worried about the observed session tomorrow, and also that the fact that he hasn't been able to see his daughter for months will make both him and his daughter Courtney nervous.  His case worker promises not to take that into account.  But is clear that whilst she is maintaining a professonal distance, she doesn't care for him one bit.  It will be interesting to see if she can keep her personal antipathy towards him out of the case.

Tuesday 12 July 2011

12 July 2011

Ffion is on sick leave because of her alcoholism.  Gaynor pays her a visit, and says that she needs to provide a doctor's note by Thursday, or she'll face a disciplinary.  Ffion feels threatened, so Gaynor says she doesn't intend to be threatening but there are wider implications to her illness.

Unfortunately for Ffion, word of her drunkenness at school spreads to her landlord Sheryl, who gives Ffion an ultimatum - sort yourself out or I'll make your life hell and you'll have to leave the house.  She has her son, Wil, to think about, so rationality goes temporarily out of the window.  Ffion is clearly shocked, but her resistance is low, and she later scours the house for a bottle of vodka.

Dani has her heart set on some second-hand kitchen furniture from Norman's renovation.  Norman finds out and decides to *sell* it to him.  Dani meanwhile is making colour swatches and thinking about redecorating their flat above the fish and chip shop.

Sioned tries hard to engage with Macs, but he continues to be rude and distant. Macs is clearly stiill suffering from his rape 6 weeks ago.  He is asked by Gaynor to go for an end-of-year drink, and feels obligated to go.  However when a young bathroom salesman turns up, at Sioned's request, Macs is clearly very uncomfortable at a man being in such close proximity, and he runs off.  It seems he's almost at the point where he accepts he has to ask for help.  However, things with Sioned end in an argument, and she is upset, understandably.

Monday 11 July 2011

11 July 2011

American Frank runs into Marian at the cemetery, and the two of them talk about village life.  He seems keen to find a present-day link to his ancestors.  Frank later talks to Meic in Y Deri, and they talk about Wales.

Later, he agrees to be interviewed by Jinx for Cwm FM, and talks about his ancestors moving to America.

Macs is still being distant with Sioned, and she is finding it difficult to cope.  When she goes to the school to find him, he is initially hostile, then a little defensive, but she can't get to the bottom of what she has supposedly done wrong.

Colin and Anita's continued association is hard on Meic, but Colin seems oblivious to Anita's feelings, which are bordering on nostalgia for something lost.

Leighton gives Sion some sound advice, to respect Huw's intentions to stand by Lois and the baby, or risk ruining his paternal relationship with Huw for ever.  Sion has much to think about.

Friday 8 July 2011

8 July 2011

Norman is still annoying Brandon, he keeps changing his mind about what he wants, yet then also criticising the apparently slow progress of the building work.  People like him are impossible.

Eileen's plans for a night out with Norman are dashed, when Frank, a ghastly American man from Ohio turns up.  He speaks Welsh extremely competently but with a shocking American accent, yet nobody seems to mind or even notice.

Gethin tries to convince her sister Dani to come clean to Brandon that she doesn't want a baby, but she is frightened of the confrontation.  She is worried that Brandon's affections will fall away, and she is not prepared to take the risk.

Probert is being very polite to Debbie, which annoys her and makes her more suspicious of him.  She starts to think that Probert is responsible for the burglary, but she has no evidence against him.

Angela is trying to make a case against Probert having custody, and hints at something unhealthy in his relationship with his daughter Courtney.  Angela seems very insecure, and there is definitely more to this story than meets the eye.

Thursday 7 July 2011

7 July 2011

Things at the jumble sale take an interesting turn, when little Ricky starts finding his own books, and a rugby ball that belongs to him but was taken in the burglary.  Debbie tries to find out who brought that box, but nobody seems to know.  It's great that they were able to get some things back, but Debbie remains thoughtful about who could have burgled their house in the first place and why.

Were the things brought to the jumble sale because the person responsible felt guilty, and wanted Debbie and Mark to have them back?

Probert turns to the courts and to Yvonne, who is his case worker.  Probert wants to secure access to his daughter Courtney, because his estranged wife, Angela, is preventing access.  Courtney tells Yvonne that she misses her Dad, and she doesn’t want to call Phil, Angela’s new partner, Dad.

Wednesday 6 July 2011

6 July 2011

Dai and Brandon are working on Norman’s gastropub, but things are not moving as quickly as they could be, because Norman keeps changing his mind on which room will be which.  Norman is unforgiving however and has them both on a tight leash, demanding that they work harder and faster.

Dani takes Brandi, their ratty little dog, to be sterlised.  Just as well, horrible little thing.

Meic and Denzil have moved in together, and having tidied up Colin’s left behind mess, the place is starting to look like home.

Meic comes back to Y Deri to collect some things, but he walks in at precisely the wrong moment, when Colin and Anita are having a kiss.  He vows to come back another day, and refers to Colin as the cuckoo in his nest.

Tuesday 5 July 2011

5 July 2011

Gaynor is furious with Ffion, who turns up to work as bold as brass, as if nothing had happened.  Gaynor takes Ffion to her office and gives her a choice, either get a doctor’s note and she can have the time off to get better, or a governor’s meeting will be called, and she’ll be sacked.

Leighton offers Sioned and Macs a free holiday at his place in South Africa, as a wedding present.  Sioned tries to talk about weddings, but Macs changes the subject.  Sioned says she is very worried, that Macs has been like this for weeks and she’s having trouble sleeping as a result.  When she suggests that he doesn’t want to be with her, he reacts emotionally and says that once the school year is over, things will be different.  He clearly finally realises that his reaction to being raped by Scott, about which Sioned knows nothing, is hurting Sioned badly.  All seems well, until Gaynor lets it slip that Macs left work at 3.30pm that day -- Macs had told Sioned that he was working late!

Sion tells Jinx and Hywel that he knows the Cwm FM programme about monks was made up, as there have been no people living on the island since the 12th century.

Monday 4 July 2011

4 July 2011

Ricky goes with some other children to Ysgol Y Mynach, which will be his new secondary school.   After Gaynor ingratiates herself on them, Ffion gives them a taste of sport.  However, she decides that she needs her vodka.  She puts poor Jinx in charge of the children, who is there to record a radio programme.  He barely knows what to do.  Ffion rushes back to grab her 'water bottle' filled with vodka, and in the meantime, the children rummage through the sports supplies, and emerge with a variety of sporting equipment, including javelins.

Ffion comes back, sees the children with the javelins, reacts extremely angrily, and shouts at them.  Mark (Ricky's father) remonstrates with her and realises that she's intoxicated, and guesses that she wasn't ill in Cardiff, but intoxicated then also.

Gaynor arrives, and she is furious.  She frog-marches Ffion into her office.  She tells Fiion that she is an alcoholic, and that she will never get the opportunity to behave like that again.  She starts making all sorts of threats about the board of governors.

Jinx has been recording the whole thing for Cwm FM, but his boss Hywel is anxious to protect Gaynor from scandal, and says it won't be broadcast.  Jinx is angry that Hywel will allow false programmes (such as the one about the monks) to be broadcast but not the truth.

Meanwhile, Iolo is trying to reach out to Macs, but Macs is not interested in engaging.  Sioned is becoming increasingly unhappy.

Thursday 30 June 2011

30 June 2011

Neil goes on Cwm FM to appeal for the return of family photos which were lost in the burglary.

Jinx is forced to record a fake radio programme where he is supposedly in Ireland, at a monastery.

Ffion's apparent illness is troubling Gaynor, who knows that something is wrong, but can't put her finger on it.

Wednesday 29 June 2011

29 June 2011

Ffion takes some pupils for an open day at Cardiff Uni, but takes herself off to a pub, talks to some strange bloke, and gets drunk.  When the pupils are not back at the appointed time, Gaynor makes frantic phone calls, including one to Ffion, who sheepishly says that she is ill.  Gaynor asks Macs to go to Cardiff and collect them, but he freezes up and refuses point blank (we assume this is where Scott lives).

When Gaynor says she will report him to the board of governors, Macs admits to Gaynor that he was attacked.

Initially she appears to be sympathetic but then throws it back in his face, saying that now he must realise how Izzy felt.  This seems rather uncalled for.  Later, she appears at his flat, and gives him some information to help him.  Macs says that she is only there to ease her conscience, threatens her, and throws her out.

Tuesday 28 June 2011

28 June 2011

Episode 1

Probert is not happy that one Gwyneth, of the two lesbians, is managing his family law case (about access to his daughter).  He doesn't think that a lesbian would have the first idea about how to empathise with a man, and accuses her of bias.

Colin tells Meic that Anita wants nobody to know that the two of them are together.  Meic is finding it difficult to be in Colin's presence.

Episode 2

Ffion invites herself round to a non-existent party at Macs and Sioned's place.  Macs quickly excuses himself, being around alcohol makes him nervous.  He's quite clearly still in a very bad place.

Huw tells his Leighton that Lios is pregnant, and that he's the father, but he can't bring Sion round to his point of view.  Leighton is caught between wanting to be loyal to his grandson but also loyal to his son too.

Monday 27 June 2011

27 June 2011

Dani tells her brother Gethin that she slept with Garry Monk whilst they were in Newcastle, and that Garry is threatening her with blackmail.  Gethin thinks she should tell Brandon now, rather than have him find out from Garry. He may have a point.  Gethin thinks that if she confesses now, Brandon will be upset, true, but in time he will forgive her.

Friday 24 June 2011

24 June 2011

Dani goes to visit Garry in prison, as he requested, behind Brandon's back.  Garry says that unless Dani leaves Brandon, he will reveal all to Brandon about how she slept with him during the trip to Newcastle.  Dani doesn't believe him, but acquiesces.  She is distinctly uncomfortable with the male attention in prison, but Garry accuses her of lapping it up.

Ffion's drinking is still continuing, and he is becoming more elaborate at hiding it, with bottles being hidden in cupboards, behind things and so on.  Sioned is not very happy.

Lois's frustration with her domineering mother Gaynor continues, and things will soon come to a head.

Thursday 23 June 2011

23 June 2011

Dai and Diane win the contract for Norman's new pub.  Norman visits them to give them the news, and posts letters out to everyone else.

Jim Probert sees Norman posting the letters, and gets the wrong end of the stick, convinced that he has won the contract.  This isn't going to end well, I'm sure of it!

When the truth emerges in Y Deri that Dai and Diane won, Probert says that there was bribery involved, and vows to get to the bottom, little knowing that Eileen looked at Probert's tender price.  Clearly the bad blood that exists between ABD and Probert is going to run and run.

Wednesday 22 June 2011

22 June 2011

Sion's father, Leighton, returns to Cwmderi, and there is a large family gathering.  Macs however remains distant.  At the sound of a lager can opening, he has flashbacks to the night he was attacked, and he refuses to drink.  He leaves early, and nobody can really understand why.

Iolo follows him, and begs Macs to speak out, and say what's wrong.  Iolo can see that Macs is suffering.  Just as Macs is on the edge of saying something, he bottles it and throws Iolo out.  Will Iolo's persistence pay off, or is he in fact going to just alienate his brother?

Sion arranges an interview for Huw, but Huw is still angry with Sion for saying he will insist on a DNA test for Lois's baby.  To get back at Sion, Huw doesn't go to the interview, making Sion angry.

Leanne finds out about Lois being pregnant, but under pressure from Gaynor, agrees to keep it secret.
